Blacklisting an App

The blacklist feature enables the IT admin to be in control of how the devices within their ecosystem are used. Whether it is the global blacklist or blacklisting an app for a single device or group of devices, the SmartMDM platform offers you the flexibility to carry out this action.

Global Apps Blacklist

The Global application blacklist feature enables you to blacklist an application for all the devices within your ecosystem at once. To perform this action, follow the steps below;

  1. Navigate to the Manage Applications module and select the actions option for the app to be globally blacklisted (see screenshot below)

2. Select the “Blacklist for all devices” option to blacklist the app globally for all devices within your ecosystem.

3. The status of apps that have been blacklisted globally will be updated to “blacklisted” (see screenshot). The blacklisted app will become inaccessible on all the devices that have that app installed on them.

3. Applications that have been globally blacklisted will be displayed on the “Blacklisted apps” tab. (see screenshot below)

Blacklist for select devices and a device group

This can be considered if the IT admin needs to blacklist an application for just a set of devices. To do this, take the following steps;

  1. Select the app to app to be blacklisted as shown in Fig.1 above,

  2. From the list of devices that is displayed, select the devices that you need to blacklist the app on. see fig.5 below
